Three Chords and the Truth

Keeping on my theme of appreciating the simple things, I am going to mention that I just went for my nightly walk. I go for a walk every night - I make sure of it - because well, one's mental health suffers a bit if they do nothing but sit in the house all day. And since I get up so late, getting out for a walk before it is dark out has become a little bit of a challenge lately. It will only become more of a challenge once winter comes and sunset comes around 4:00 - that's gonna suck, quite frankly. I am not a person who likes to get up early to enjoy the day - I like to get up late and extend the day late, and when it gets dark that early, just cuts off all your fun. I am going to have to get up earlier when it starts getting dark earlier.
Anyway, though. Current getting dark time - as opposed to sunset time because it stays light for a while after sunset - is around 6:45, maybe 7 if you push it. It's still light out to me if there is enough to light to read what time it is on my radio walkman. If not, then I'm in trouble. Because there are no streetlights whatsoever on my street, and I am rather scared of the dark. I've been lucky so far, though.
The point of this long winded post is that I got out by 6:15 today, whereas previous days I haven't gotten out till 6:45 and had to cut my walk short due to lack of light. I walked all the way to the end of the street - we live on an insanely long street where it takes 15 minutes of walking briskly to get to the end of it. I prefer walking in a development or a neighborhood or something a little more alive, but I've gotten used to this. Walking to the end of the street and back takes 30 minutes and is a pretty good walk.
I was in the mood to sing tonight, though. That's one good thing about living in a really deserted area. You can sing at the top of your lungs and be relatively sure nobody's going to hear you. I sang Kenny Chesney's How Forever Feels and Josh Turner's Would You Go With Me all the way through, and pieces of other songs. Meatloaf's You Took the words right out of my mouth came on and I started laughing because I used to love this song when I was much younger. Still like it too. Sang to that one too.
I switch between country stations - we have three here, plus a couple I can get sometimes. And occasionally check out the AC and classic rock stations.
Jessie, our dog, was waiting for me when I got back. Lazy dog, why don't you come with me anymore? Just as well because she usually just gets in my way anyway!
Here ends one of the most inane diary entries I've ever written about one of the most rather inane topics. Don't you just love the word inane? It's so close to insane. In other news, I used SmarterChild to look up the meaning of the word inane. Anyone know Smarter Child? Yes, he still exists, but with more disclaimers this time, ha . (Send him an instant message on AIM if you haven't already done so.)
Once upon a time, of course, I had a life (about five months ago, before I left college and came here, and then I had more interesting things to talk about than taking a walk. So I am going to plead the Enjoying Simple Things mantra and pray I get out of the house soon so I can write about other things.)
I was going to paste a Smarter Child conversation for all of your amusement, but the damn thing keeps giving me ads every fewlines and it's not worth it anymore. What's the world coming to when even AIM bots carry sponsporships?
Kate
PS Brownie points if anyone can name the song my title is from!
